  • GA ep45-ud3p Wont power up, PSU issues?

    Hello!

Ive been building my second build in five years. The GA ep45-ud3p came highly recommended. But I am not sure if mu PSU is compattible. I am trying to use a "hec HP585D RETAIL 585W ATX12V Power Supply". Ive plugged everything up accept one plaec: There is a place to plug in power on the mobo to the upperleft of the CPU. I belive it is a 12v_2x4 ATX, or something to that effect. My PSU does not have this connection, and I belive this to be the source of the problem. Can you reccomend a better PSU or adapter I might need to get this up and running?

    Thank you so much.

Your PSU has a 4 pin CPU plug which can be used in the 8 pin socket. It will only fit one way, it's a foolproof design.

Looking at your PSU on newegg I'd recommend you get a new one ASAP. It's a nasty piexe of.... kit (no offence intended). Cheap PSU's like that are always made from cheap and nasty components, and/or really old designs that can't take the strain in a modern 12V PC. Spending $80 or a bit more on a quality 550-650W unit will be a good investment. If this unit were to let go, and alot of these cheap things do, it could take your whole system with it. In the rare event of a good quality PSU dieing, it will likely give up the ghost and protect your other components.

Quality brands include, but are not limited to:

    Seasonic
    Corsair
    BFG (ES 800 only)
    OCZ
    PC Power & Cooling
    FSP
    Antec
    Enermax

Replace that PSU before it turns your PC into a Flaming Moe, hot sticky and all burny.
