    Happy early Birthday D-an-W!!!

Are you thinking of buying one awesome card, or two medium strength ATI cards and run crossfire? What is your theoretical $$ Limit?

I like sapphire cards myself, but others of course will disagree or have their own opinion. And then again you must also take into account I do not game so I would not be the best person to get advice from on this area either.

I am sure others will chime in to offer you some thoughts, would you like me to copy your post into our Graphics section as well? You may get some additional feedback from members who frequent that section. If you would let me know and I will get that done for you before I go to bed tonight

Yes please Lsd that would be great!

I don't really know the pros and cons to one or two cards but I do know two would mean twice as much heat and noise. My current GPU is silent but I doubt I could get a cutting edge card now without some form of active cooling?

Currently I use the VGA output to my 40" LCD TV for HD stuff so do the dual DVI cards come with a DVI to VGA adapter?

Sorry, I mean to say the "What Should I Buy" section, looks like the GFX Section is more for help then suggestions on purchases. I copied it over to the what should I buy section for you though, I am sure you will get some good suggestions.

Ya, you do want active cooling no matter which way you go, seems the silent cards always tend to run way hotter then they should. I think they should only be used in a super cool case that maybe does not game as often as others.

Ya, almost all cards I have bought over the past few years come with DVI to D-Sub (Blue VGA) adapters. If you happened to pick a card that did not, no worry as you can get an adapter for $3 or so anyway. Really though, if your TV Supports it and depending on the card choice, you would be able to use HDMI or S-video to connect to your TV

I'll throw in a vote for a 4800 series ATI card. Probably could get a 4850 on the cheap these days... Just say NVIDIA!

Saphirre is an excellent brand. Gigabyte and Asus are also good in my experience. BFG for Nvidia cards too. Personally I'd avoid MSI (Missing Something Inside) though, but that's purely a personal preference, and a bit of bad experience.

I feel the same about ASUS (Motherboards anyway), but they do seem to make some decent GPU's!

Re: GA-EP45-UD3P - Perfect Graphics Card partnership?

I suppose it depends what you use it for too ,what games/multimedia etc.
An upgrade to a "cheap" Nvidia 9500GT or 9600GT would show a huge increase in say WoW and a 22" monitor is a good match.

Getting a 260-280 /rad hi end ,would show more performance increase but less for your $ spent.

Depends on what monitor you have right now etc,but me if I had $350 equivalent and was thinking of gx,Id be thinking of monitor upgrade(selling the old one) too.

I have the front lower air intake on my case "ducted" so that most of it goes directly up and out over the nb/memory as the gx card blocks most of the rising air and also some heat comes off the back of it.
The side and undercase air intakes are more for the gx card area.
