Re: INstall problem - All windows versions -BSOD

What about the CPU Socket, I think they are pins. IDK ive never really had a super close inspection. No pins on SATA per say, but the Cable's I ment could be dodgy?

Yep, pins on an LGA 775 are on the motherboard. They're really fine and difficult to see. A magnifying glass would be useful.

There's no way to disable cache. C2D and C2Q also use the cache to communicate between cores, so it's needed for the CPU to function.

Re: INstall problem - All windows versions -BSOD

If the system will run the Memtest okay, sounds like the CPU, the MCH, the memory, along with whichever SATA controller the CD/DVD drive is plugged into are all okay.

Maybe the harddrive is bad? Try running a diagnostic software to test the harddrive if you haven't already. Bootable iso should be available at the manufacturer's website.

If your harddrive is okay, the 0x0000000A BSOD during the OS install often means a driver/hardware conflict, and more often than not, it's the disk controller. Try using an original retail OS CD without the SATA driver slipstream. Shouldn't need any SATA drivers unless the you have AHCI or RAID enabled anyway.

                        Glad you got it sorted.

Only experience I've had with a dead CPU was a E7300 I bought off eBay. I was able to get into the BIOS, and it was identified correctly, but would hang after POST. It was the seller's fault. As soon as I saw they'd wrapped the bare chip in bubble-wrap, I thought it may be DOA. It took me many attempts of re-seating the CPU and HSF, changing PSU and RAM before I admitted defeat, and swapped out the CPU. It was like I didn't want it to be true, but it was.
