    Re: i7 920 on ud5 strange voltage on cpu-z

This is perfectly normal, and is called Vdrop. Vdrop is the difference in voltage set in BIOS and what you actually get when you've booted windows.

You will also notice if you load the CPU (with say prime95) that the voltage will go down even more. this is called Vdroop, and is also normal. Vdroop is infact part of the Intel specs for the VRMs that regulate CPU power and is a safety feature. It prevents Vcore from ever going above the set BIOS value during operation.

Thanks for the fast reply, I thought I had a dodgy cpu or motherboard.

No probs. If you are still unsure about your components, feel free to mail them to me, and I'll..... check them for you.

        Just kidding.

Have fun with your CPU & board, you should be able to get 3.6-3.8GHz out of it easily and more if you're willing to tinker around (providing cooling allows).

There's an i7 920 overclock thread on this forum, if you do over clock, post your results and settings there. Or you can also visit it for overclocking hints and possible settings to try.
