Re: new ep45-DS3L won't post short fast beeps

Ya I need the full settings, so I can advise back. I don't know what CPU settings you are using so I will wait until you post full settings to advise back.

Static tRead Value of 6 could be what is causing your many fast beeps, if you are still getting that error. But I do need to see full settings before I can advise anything else.

Template is in my signature for you to give me your full settings, please use that. Thanks!

      *Edit*

Also, these should all be on Auto, if they are not please set Auto. Entering Zero will set Auto if you do not find Auto at the top of the listed settings.
      Trd2rd : 8

Re: new ep45-DS3L won't post short fast beeps

Thanks, try these settings with all sticks. You may need to use one or two sticks just to set them, and then apply and reboot, then shut down and put in all sticks.

Are you SURE you loaded and applied Optimized Defaults then saved and rebooted? If not, please do that now first!

Re: new ep45-DS3L won't post short fast beeps

I loaded optimized defaults and set all settings as advised.

With just 1 stick, the PC doesn't boot anymore at all. When I press the power button, it starts and just powers down again within a second.

With 4 sticks, it doesn't power down, but I still get the beeps.

I didn't manage to turn it back on ever since I set those settings. I probably won't get the time for a CMOS reset and to work on this again till next week end, so I'll just wait for further instructions.

The RAM I am using are 4x 1 GB OCZ Reaper PC8500. Default voltage detected by the mainboard is 1.800 Volts, but it says 2.1 - 2.3 Volts on the OCZ homepage, which is why I set it to 2.100.

Also, after loading optimized defaults and changing some settings, the default values of certain other settings changed automatically. I don't remember all of them, but the latency settings and advanced timing controls definitely changed to different values. Nevertheless, I overwrote them all and forced the settings you provided everywhere.

Re: new ep45-DS3L won't post short fast beeps

Ahh well you may need to set 2.2V for your ram them with all 4 sticks.

And sorry, I should have noticed this. You will need to use 4.00A not 4.00C, this would cause a non boot. Sorry!

Yes, some settings do change others such as Vtt changes MCH Ref and Vdimm changes a few others, but you should have all those in auto anyway. Do not set things to what you see unless I mentioned it, leave them on auto

Re: new ep45-DS3L won't post short fast beeps

K, did a full CMOS Reset, with battery out for 20 mins, then started with 1 stick and loaded optimized defaults. Then applied all settings as advised with the latest changes.

PC now starts with 1 stick, I still get the beeps with all 4. I have risen the DRAM voltage to 2.2 and I am using 4.00A now.

The default latencies detected are now : 5/7/7/24. I manually adjusted them to 5/5/5/18 as advised by you. (Manufacturer's default : 5/5/5/15).

As I don't really know much about what all those values mean or do, I don't dare tinkering around too much with those voltages and other values, as I might fry something, so I'll rather have you take another guess about could cause this ..

I am using exactly those settings that you have told me to use. There are no exceptions anywhere. I adjusted all the values that changed (like the latencies) to what you've told me, too. I could post them here again, but it'd be an exact copy of what I posted earlier...

CPU PLL value, you still have listed as 2.550V, if you are using 1.55 then ok. Just wondered since you listed 2.5 in the settings.

That CPU will do 1333 FSB (333 FSB) easy, just FYI.

So 3.00A did not boot either? Very well could be this memory is not compatible with this board, have you asked OCZ if they have tested it on this board?

Alright, I'll try 333 FSB as soon as I get the time then. And I don't bother asking hardware manufacturers questions anymore. I've tried it various times, and IF you get any answer at all, it will be something like "try updating to the latest BIOS" or something, although you told them that you've done that already. I rather put my faith in forums like this where people actually bother. If I can't get this running like expected, I'll just stick with 2 GB and XP 32 for now. I'll report back for the 333 FSB thing though.
