  • GA UD5 X58 - How can i tweak my comp? (ram mostly)

    Hello Gigabyte!
I got a certain feeling, that something might be wrong.
    I got these ram modules:
    Komplett.dk - OCZ Platinum XTC DDR3 1866MHz 6GB KIT

They should be great for running high speed ..
    Other speccs:
    Intel i7 920 @ 3ghz
    GA UD5 X58
    GTX 295 Gainward
    150 Raptor
    1000 HX

My ram are running 1.5 Volt and their FSB:RAM are 2:8 .. Should I change that?

please check my screenshots and give me feedback, so I can get the max out of my PC!

I only got Intel Stock Cooler so far, so take that in mind ;)

    HeyHey!

        Hi,

For some reason I can't download your screenshots ("you are already downlaoding a file" o.0)

Your I7 920 is @ 3.00 Ghz. Is that with a BCLK of 150 and no turbo, or 143 with turbo?

        Anyway, say it's at 150:

        Ram 2:6 = 900 (150 x 6)
        Ram 2:8 = 1200 (150 x 8)
        Ram 2:10= 1500 (150x10)
        Ram 2:12= 1800 (150 x 12)

So you'll want to run the RAM at 2:10 (1800) to be close to spec, and start with stock voltage and timings (9-9-9-28, 1.65v). You might have to increase QPI vtt voltage as well (say to 1.3-1.35v).

        Good luck,

        Ced

Is it possible to run RAM at 1800 mhz without overclocking ur CPU?

This should work, but I have never tried...

            CPU @ Stock (133 x 20/21)
            Ram 2:14= 1862 (133 x 14)

                Will I feel any benefits?

Do I enable XMP in the BIOS also?

yes.and i try with dominator1600 and working.bios set automatik the memory profile with stock cpu speed.

Do I need to set the timings manually for the ram modules? Are they not supposed to make auto timings when I change the multiplier? Shall I manually chance volt? Or will it change automatic?

I dont got Dominator but OCZ Plantinum ..

Have you tried this yourself? Have you felt any benefits?

I can only find a way to set them at 0:6 or 0:8 or 0:10 :(

                      Heeelp.

To get 1866 mhz I need to set Memory Multiplier to 14 not 10.

i leave all auto and enable XMP.nothing else.if you wont set ram voltage.
