  • Creative X-Fi no sound with Gigabyte UD-5 X-58 board

    Hello folks,

I've installed a brand new computer yesterday. I've Gigabyte UD5 X58 chipset board, Ci7 920 CPU, Gigabyte GTX 295 graphip card, OCZ 6Gb ram and Creative X-Fi Extreemmusic sound card.

I installed Vista 64 bit to system and made it work everything except sound card. I upgraded Bios, installed latest drivers of X-Fi, disabled on board sound card but no sound at all! It shows installed correctly at device manager for X-Fi however no sound.

I checked cables anyway it didn't work. I play mp3 file but reverse/forward icon don't move, however if I go to X-Fi sound check it shows like it works...

After that I plugged out my X-Fi and put to same PCI slot Wireless card. It installed but anyway it doesnt see my wireless LAN. So tell me please what's going on here?

    Thanks.

      Hi TorwaK,
Did you DISABLE Azalia Codec in BIOS?
      Azalia Codec
Enables or disables the onboard audio function. (Default: Auto)
If you wish to install a 3rd party add-in audio card instead of using the onboard audio, set this item
      to Disabled.

Yes I did, neverthless it didn't work either. Strange thing is it shows at device manager Creative X-Fi is runs without problem. When I play mp3 file, forward/reverse cursor at media player don't move and no sound, but it doesnt show any error etc.

I go to control panel to sound options and test sound card, it shows at screen like test sound plays.

I tried bios version F6, downloaded latest X-Fi Vista 64 bit drivers, no sound again. I'll crack my head soon...

          What about speakers?
Can check them with Realtek onboard Azalia audio chip

Azalia works great without problem. However Creative X-Fi sound card no! It seems like Creative have big issue about X-Fi cards... Check this out :(

Re: Creative X-Fi no sound with Gigabyte UD-5 X-58 board

Just to put in my 2cents.

              Recently built my i7:
              i7 920 (oced to 3.9)
              gigabyte ud5 mb
              6gb corsair dominator 1600
bfg nvida 295 (not oced yet)
              raid 0
sb x-fi platinum (its extreme music with the remote and drive bay)
              vista 64 (clean install)

I disabled azalia via bios. Then, I installed the card. Then dled the vista 64 drivers from creative site, software pack, and alchemy. Installed drivers then software then alchemy.

Sound works fine...creative control panel works fine. Sound is great. Got vent set up nicely. I have my logitech thx speakers connected via analog. Seems to work better than when I had it on my xp machine.

Just wanted to say that I did not have problems...not really that helpful to you though.

What kind of connection/cable are you using?

If digital, you'll have to enable SPDIF/IO in the audio control panel...
There is also a setting in Vista Speaker properties, in the "custom" tab you have to click "Enable Digital IO"

Thank you m8... This is my first overclock try at below. The point is I forgot to enable HT option at BIOS so test is completed with 4 cores only. Tonight I am going revise the score with 8 cores.
