  • Gigabyte UP3P Constant Freezing.

Ok so I built a new computer, and have been having a problem with constant freezing, and not responding from a lot of programs, especially windows explorer. It started with an error message when I was booting up that said DES is turned off, please use application to turn on again. I uninstalled the dynamic energy saver application but that doesnt seem to be the problem. I tried updating the bios from f6 to f7 but that didn't help. It also will not shut down properly, when it gets to the screen that says windows is shutting down it just hangs there. My cpu temp when I go into bios is 40c, I don't know if thats normal or high. My specs are:

    Gigabyte EP45-UD3P
    Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST31500341AS 1.5TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM

    Re: Gigabyte UP3P Constant Freezing.

post your bios settings here for help

Also have you tested to see that your computer/memory is stable? Try memtest 1st, need to boot from it. Then if it passes a couple hours or a couple loops of test #7 try Prime/OCCT/ect,, to see that its stable

Prob the 1st thing to make sure is to set the DRAM voltage to what your memory states is needed.

      Re: Gigabyte UP3P Constant Freezing.

Is there any utility or program I can use to copy and paste my bios settings here, or do I have to go into my bios to get them? Also I have ran the windows memory diagnostic and it passed, I'll try the memtest as soon as I figure out how to do it. Sorry I'm kinda new with all this stuff, the last time I built a computer it went fine so I guess I'm paying now.

As for memtest, go here and download it

Pick the correct version and if you use CD then get the ISO and use a free burning program like IMGBURN to burn to a CD.

Or you can use Floppy disk/USB but little different.

            Re: Gigabyte UP3P Constant Freezing.

They have had some problems with the large Seagate drives freezing, Google it. But don't update the firmware unless you are sure it's not the one that will brick the drive, because they leaked one on the web that bricked a lot of drives.
