  • GA-EX58-UD5 only recognizes 4 GB out of 6 when clocked with 1600MHz VDIMM

    Hello,

when doing a cold start, my GA-EX58-UD5 (F4R Bios) only recognizes 4 GByte of the 6GB TR3X6G1600C8D I use. This seems to happen only if I let the system work with 1600MHz. Interestingly, memtest86 still tells me I have triple channel RAM, althoug there is only 4 GByte.

I am currently testing the RAM with memtest and there are no errors, but I left the setting at 1066 MHz - Standard. A shame with the Corsairs, but I prefer a stable system.

Could this be due to some BIOS isse, some misconfiguration (I just activated XMP and set VDIMM to 1.64 or set the multiplier to 22 plus the VDIMM to 1.64 again) or defective Hardware?

    Kind regards,
    Frank

There have been some posts about this issue, also I believe you may have to disable XMP (but you should get some feedback from x58 users who can verify that)

Also try a search on this forum for "X58" (without quotations), it will return all the recent posts, where I know this has been mentioned.
