  • Power Supply question with GA-EP45-UD3P

    Hi There,

In the Quest to set up a new machine

    I will use GA-EP45-UD3P
but have with this Existing Power supply
Cooler Master Real Power 550 RS-550-ACLY
    ATX12V 2.01 / EPS12V 2.1 550W Power Supply
I pay at the time 120$ an try to find out a way to save some $
    It come with 1 (8pin EPS 12v)
    and 1 (4pin ATX 12v)

I read That you need 2x 4pin 12v to be able to connect
and enjoy a bit of overclocking....

I also calculate that 550W is OK with
    E8500, Gt9800gtx+, 2x2gb ddr2 1066
2 Hard disk, 2 DVD rw,and a few external UsB device...

    Your help needed....
    Core 2 Duo E8400 (E0)
    Gigabyte EP45-UD3P (F9 Bios)
    Cooler Master V8
    Corsair Dominator 1066 PC2 8500 C5 2x 2gb w/cooling fan
    (5.5.5.15 at 2.1v)
Western Digital 640 blue caviar (2 unit)
Palit Hd 4870 sonic dual cooler
    Cooler Master Silent pro 700w
    Cooler master RC 690 w/ 6 fan 120mm

    You may be ok.

However that PSU only supplies up to a maximum of 30amps on it's 12 volt rails (360w) - which is on the low side for a 550watt PSU.

Well looking at EVGA and BFGtech they suggest around 24-26amps with a basic (9800gtx+) setup using a CPU such as an E4500 (bfg site).

You may be ok with the PSU you have, but it could be cutting it fine when playing a demanding 3dgame and with a modest CPU overclock.

        Personally I like Corsair PSU's.
