    Re: ET6 will not work

Ahh sorry bud about the comment in the BIOS thread, I had no clue what system you had!

I thought you was having issues on P45. I think they are still of course working on X58, it is a very immature chipset and so boards won't be prime for a while

Good luck though, I am sure they will soon get things squared away.

Does it run if you remove it from startup, then reboot and try to run it from the start menu? Just wondered if starting with windows is somehow killing it

      Re: ET6 will not work

      Hi Jay.

Not quite sure what's wrong. In the BIOS thread you said you're running vista64, and you just want to use it for monitoring right?
Because I can launch easy tune to monitor temps and voltages, but I get a similar crash to yours when I try to modify and apply voltage/frequency settings. I rarely use Easy tune though, so nvm...

I took easy tune out of startup, and launch it "as administrator". I don't use it for overclocking, and since monitoring info is pretty poor, I'd just use the latest Everest from the misnamed "intel Burn test" thread, or something similar.

It could be a BIOS setting that's conflicting with the app. I have most of my BIOS at defaults (apart from QPI/timings and a few voltages).

Another thought is to maybe minimize power management in windows. I had an Msi board+app that needed power settings in Win XP to be set to "minimal power management" to work right.....

        Re: ET6 will not work

Just took it out of startup, reboot and launch as admin and i get the same thing.

So yeah I dont know what going on other than the program is busted.
From what i have heard is if you installed Vista from a non SP1 CD it will work. But if you had a SP1 CD you will have problems like i am having

I doubt SP1 would cause this issue, where did you hear that?

            Yes, that does sound strange.
FYI, installed Vista with a non-SP1 Disk...

Take a look around on the web forums.
Anyone that has this working installed from a non SP1 disk.
If you installed of a SP1 disk, ET6 will be broken, just like it is for me.

                Re: ET6 will not work

That is absurd, I installed Vista from a ISO not a DVD, as do many users.

What would a SP1 Disk Vs. a non SP1 Disk upgraded to SP1 have different...?

I can install it in VMware with SP1 ISO (SP1 Disk) and it runs fine, this is not your issue at all.

If you really think it is, and want to use it then maybe you should think about a clean install without SP1. It would fix possibly other issues you may have as well, because this theory is not true and has nothing to do with it working so you may have some other issues anyway with your OS

                  Re: ET6 will not work

                  Is it absurd?
a dll could be a different version on the non SP1 disk that SP1 didn't touch.

Yes i am grasping at straws here, but that is a common occurrence, what version of vista was used to install the OS. It might be a fluke on what i saw, but either way more people than not have problems with ET6 and Vista64. All I am looking for is a way to get it working.

So i am open to any other ideas you may have.

Edit, can you verify we have the same versions of the DLL that fails on my system.

                    Re: ET6 will not work

Did you try running it in "win XP SP2 compatibility mode"?

P.s. I have the same ntdll.dll and OS versions as you...

Compatibility mode is a no go....
Thanks for checking versions for me.

C3D76 does everything work for you or just some things?

Same Dll here as well. Are you running it as admin? Do you have UAC on?

Those things I ask because I have UAC disabled and I am the REAL account Admin in my PC

Jay: I can launch easy tune to monitor temps and voltages (default, so no compatibility mode etc...), but I get a similar crash to yours the instant I apply changes after modifying voltage/frequency settings.

Maybe try what LSD suggested. You could also try reinstalling ET in safe mode, or in "real admin" account (antivirus and such OFF)...

Have you guys asked Gigabyte Tech about this? >>>

Just wondering as it may be a X58 issue and not x64 vista or SP1 vista or any of that. Just thought of that as all my testing is done on P45
