  • Resume from S3 sleep on GA-EX58-UD5 solved

I was having an issue where rig would correctly enter S3 sleep state but would be unable to wake back up....hard drives would spin up, fans turn on, but no video signal....saw that others were having this same issue.

Well, after hours of frustration, it came down to one simple bios setting.

Hyperthreading = OFF - No resume from S3 sleep
Hyperthreading = ON - resume works correctly!!!

Other than the fact that I didn't want to run hyperthreading due to the huge cpu heat impact I'm noticing, I can deal with it

Try it out if you are experiencing same issue.

btw..I'm using F4 mobo bios. Hopefully Gigabyte will test, repro and get a fix in next bios.

Should have been enabled anyway, sounds like you maybe need a better cooler

BIOS F5b is out, have you tried any of the F4 beta's or F5 a/b yet?

Alright so which is it? You have to disable HT or enable HT in order for the computer to be able to wake from S3?

Everyone over here is saying that they had to disable HT in order for it to work correctly.

I've personally had HyperThreading enabled when I was overclocking and running the Windows 7 beta and when the system goes into S3 sleep state everything shuts off properly but when I click the mouse button the fans and lights come back on but there is no video signal. I have to hold down the reset or power button until the system shuts off or restarts.

On the Extreme with F3 BIOS, disabling HPET fixes S3 for me.
This was solved with newer BIOS's though....

          Having trouble still with sleep.

It goes to sleep, but when I wake it up...My monitor won't wake up and I'm not really sure if the computer wakes up

          a) because i can't see
          b) i don't sign back on IM meaning i may not be waking up or i lose internet

          I have the
GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD5 LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard

          and

EVGA 01G-P3-1155-TR GeForce GTS 250 1GB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card

If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks

What BIOS are you using? To check look in the mainboard tab of CPU-z or on the MAIN Page of the BIOS press F9

You need to use the latest BIOS for S3 to work properly, OS Choice does not matter

I suggest you update to F8f or newer
