Hi all. Got a new E8300 installed to replace my grossly-problematic Q9450. This was gonna tide me over until I saved for an X58 system, but when I heard of LGA1156's arrival later this year, I've decided to wait.
Anyways...
Here is my BIOS. Currently, the E8300 is running at stock everything (bios optimized options). What should I change to get the E8300 to be 3.4Ghz (1:1 with ram) or higher?
(Note: some options may have ?? next to them, because I forgot what they are currently - I was in a hurry to see how E8300 benchmarked)
Advanced Bios Features
HDD Smart: Disabled ??
Limit CPUID to 3: Disabled ??
No Execute Mem Protect: Enabled ??
C1E: Enabled
TM2: Enabled
EIST: Enabled
Virtualization Tech: Enabled
Full LOGO: Disabled
Init Display: PEG
CPU Smart Fan Control: Enabled
M.I.T.
RGB: Auto
CPU Clock Ratio: 8x
Fine Ratio: +0.5
CPU Freq: 2.83ghz (333x8.5)
CPU Host Frequency: 333mhz
PCI-E Freq: 100
CIA2: Disabled
Performance Enhancer: Turbo
Sys Mem Multi: Auto (shows 5:6 in CPU-Z)
Mem Freq: 800mhz (because of the 5:6 strapping)
DRAM Timings
Primary Timings: 5 - 5 - 5 - 12
Sub Timings: I'm unsure what these are at the moment
ACT to ACT Delay: ??
Rank Write to Read Delay: ??
Write to Precharge Delay: ??
Refresh to ACT Delay: 42
Read to Precharge Delay: ??
Static tRead Value: 7
Static tRead Phase Adjust: Auto/0
Command Rate: Auto (probably auto'd to 2T)
Voltages: All currently at Normal, LLC at Auto
DDR2 OV Control
PCI-E OV Control
FSB OV Control
(g)MCH OV Control
CPU Vcore
So what should I change to test for 3.4Ghz stable, and possibly above that? I hear dual-cores are better at OCing than quad-cores.
