  • UD3P and Q9550= SWEET!

Just put this rig together a few days ago and I must say I'm impressed!
My old rig was an OC'd E8400 on a Abit IP35 Pro. Gave that to my son to upgrade his gaming rig.Running 3.6ghz now and finished IBT no problems.
Ran Memtest86 on the 8gigs of Ram all night no probs. Highest temp on any core was 58 during IBT. I think i could hit 500 fsb with this setup.
    So far so good

Prospector, nice system you have there.. I wish i had that E0 of yours!!! I've got a C1 stepping Q9550 @ 3.83ghz and my temps are the same as yours at full load, usually between 58c and 62c...

Thanks,I'm pretty sure this thing will do 500 fsb maybe not with 8 gigs of
DDR800 but I think with all the help here I can get it dialed in.

          PLEASE Check this!!! >>>
          CPU Termination-Auto
          CPU PLL-Auto

If left in Auto those will be WAY to high and kill your CPU, you can see the 1.85v being used by looking in EasyTune!

Please for your CPU's sake find and set a stable setting manually. Maybe >>>
          CPU Termination-1.2.1.38
          CPU PLL-1.45-1.6

becarefull ... lot of readingi done it's said this should be disable per intell spec. .... i know if you have this enable the Vcore voltage is very low...

It only becomes a problem if you allow C1E / Speedstep to function. Those voltage spikes only happen when your chip is adjusting it's own multiplier and VID to slow down...

I have disabled C1E and Speedstep so those transitions shouldn't happen. Which means the only reason for vDroop to exist is gone...

lsdmeasap, i set the CPU PLL to 1.45 and CPU Term to 1.22 to be safe... For some reason when i overclocked to 4ghz with these set to auto things were stable until i rebooted again the next day and tried to run Prime and OCCT and they both failed... No worries, i'm content with a 3.83ghz overclock that stable! I can't seem to find a stable voltage for the GTL reference nor the Northbridge(MCH)..
