  • EX58-DS4 squeak sounds coming from it...

    Hello,

I just got the EX58-DS4 a few days ago and its been running great, however I've noticed some high pitched sounds coming out of it, for some reason it seems they come out whenever there's hard drive activity. Its from the CPU area...

Its not that annoying but I was just wondering if its something I should be worried about. Im using an antec 650watt psu, core i7 920, 6gb of g.skill ram and a geforce 260 gtx gpu.

Also, heres the screen to the voltages from everest. Im noticing that the +5V stand by voltage is low... What do you guys think?

    thanks

Oh, didn't see that one... I did what they said to disable EIST and C1 state and the noise is gone, im gonna leave them enable though... just wanted to make sure it was not something bad.

Thanks a lot for your reply.

Regarding the stand by voltage, what do you guys think?

      thanks

I tend to think the 5 volt standby line is being misreported even by Easy Tune 6 (which in theory should be accurate).

You have two choices really. Either measure the voltage with a Multimeter (Pin 9 ATX Connector), or see what the bios says. Is the 5V standby Voltage monitored in the bios on the PCHealth screen?

        EDIT:-
Just noted it's Everest that is Misreporting, which tends to be normal when a new Chipset/board has been released. I'd say the 5VSB is probably OK.

Huh? As I see it easy tune is not reporting the 5V standby voltage, only everest...

Bios does not report it, just the above.
