  • Odd problem overclocking EP45-UD3P

    Setup:
    Core 2 Duo e6400
    2x 1G Corsair DD2 800 5-5-5-12 1.9V
    550W PSU

On my old Asus P5B, I overclocked my e6400 to 8x400MHz with 1.4V vCore

On the EP45-UD3P, strange things happen. Tested each one of these settings individually, then together. This works:
vCore 1.5V (core temp is 31C at that voltage)
    LLC enabled/disabled
    5-5-5-12
    Mem 1.9V
    Multiplier 8
    FSB 366MHz

When I put it to 400MHz, I get the constant short beeps that mean "power error" and have to reset the CMOS. Doesn't matter what combination of settings I use - the moment I hit 400MHz, it becomes unhappy. Anybody know what this problem is and/or what I can do to fix it?

    Thanks.

it's your ram ..... set the static to 9-11 ... and sub timing looser ... after it run .. then tweak latter

The problem happens regardless of whether I set the memory timings/voltage or not.

As a note, it's perfectly stable at 8x366 right now.

When you use 400 FSB what strap are you using for your ram? And what Static tRead value, that is likely the issue

Since you know you was stable at 1.4V on your old board, was that BIOS setting or actual shown by CPU-z? Your BIOS setting will be more in this board so adjust accordingly so you can get 1.4 actual again. And you will need to manually set PLL and Vtt (Termination) PLL 1.5-1.6, Vtt 1.25-1.45

If you want, please link me to your ram and fill this out with your exact settings you are try to use at 400 FSB and I will advise back >>>

This is Just a template I use to ask people their settings, pay no attention to the numbers in it, replace with yours

          Re: Odd problem overclocking EP45-UD3P

Thanks a ton for posting that. It made me take a detailed second look at everything, and I found my problem.
The System Memory Multiplier was sending my Memory Frequency skyrocketing. Switched it to 2.000D, stayed at 800MHz, and all is well.

          Thanks again!
