Re: New built PC, overclock problem.

i can run it but theres like a error that pops up. so i didnt know if it would be accurate so i waited. thanks for clarifying.
sorry it was 1.3875. Even if i did use cpu-z the voltage wouldnt be accurated since its under stress.
i managed to drop my vcore to 1.391 or something. and its been running prime for nearly 8hours. Thats at 8x400
Edit its been running for 17hours now :)

Hmm, well that is odd. Are you using the latest CPU-z and OCCT?

Nice to see you are getting somewhere! I would advise you use 399 or 401 or so instead of 400 as that may give you issues being right on the 400 strap line

Re: New built PC, overclock problem.

i'm quite sure its the latest version since i downloaded it about 3weeks ago.
I might keep the settings how they are, probably stick with 3.2 until i get better components. why do advice to change to 401? is the 1 really a big difference?

Edit: the voltage was 1.39375v, had prime95 running for 21hours before i decided its enough.

Well 400 exact is right on the strap line is why I suggested the change

That is a good long run!

Re: New built PC, overclock problem.

Oh i know what you mean now, sorry my mistake it was 402 as you told me or someone in another thread.
Also before i said that the double/triple reboot wont happen if i don't turn the psu from the back off however since i haven't turned the computer off in 2days, i have found out that if i turn the power from the mains/wall the double/triple reboot thing will occur? anyone have solutions to the problem? only way i know is increasing memory multiplier to 2.5 or above. but it isn't recommended
Here are my settings, and is there any way to tweak it more?

Re: New built PC, overclock problem.

Have you tried the B/333/# strap? That would be 2.00x, 2.40x, 3.20x, 4.00x Memory multiplier.

A triple reboot is not normal, and double should only happen when you make changes in the BIOS and save and reboot. Maybe you still need more vcore

I would try more vcore and this and the above mentioned multiplier if you see it 2.00 B/# >>>
              PCI-E OverVoltage Control_ [+0.2V] << Less
FSB OverVoltage Control___ [+0.2V] << Less
              (G)MCH OverVoltage Control [+0.2V] <<< more

Re: New built PC, overclock problem.

                i'll try my PCI-E at +0.1 and fsb +0.1 and MCH +0.3?
The thing is that it does it all the time after overclocking, cause i have tried shutting down and it does the same every time. when i was testing only multiplier above 2.5 works, 2.4 doesnt.

I'll lower my voltage on the PCI and FSB and see if it still happens, i'll test when i get back from school. Thanks

Re: New built PC, overclock problem.

Well here is what you need to keep in mind, not multipliers, but straps. It is not so much the Multiplier below 2.5 that is giving you a issue likely, just the one you are choosing maybe. Your CPU Default strap would be the 266/A/~ Strap, but at 400+ FSB you should be using a 333 or 400 multi choice

See here which each multi is on as each strap has ONLY Specific Multi's >>>

Do not pay attention to the 6700 CPU Comment, I made this image for another user.
