Hi LS, I have been up and stable going on 3rd week now . Playing games and FSX. Happy to report no problems at all. I now would like to clock this E8600 to start @ 4.0 GHZ. Would you be so kind and check my settings to achive this.

Thanks for all your help, Riley810

Well, for 4Ghz you will need to change many things. Try this for 3990 (To keep on the 333 Strap) you may in the end have to use 400 Strap >>>>

And of course you could always use the 9 multi and run your ram at 544-12/15 for 900Mhz (use CPU freq of 450x9 and MCH 400)

Re: Pls help with first overclock EP45-UD3R

Hi LS, Back from family emergency. Thanks for your quick reply. I plan on overclocking this weekend and have a couple of questions. What are the advantages/disadvantages of using 333 strap vs 400 strap? and, under
CPU LLL you said "Set to 1.50 Auto gives it way too much" what should I do here, change it to manual? not sure on that one. Looking forward to your great wisdom and help as usual.

      Thanks in advance, Riley810

Re: Pls help with first overclock EP45-UD3R

Well 333 strap is much tighter timings in the NB so much more data will get processed. You can get 333 to work above 400 for sure, but you just have to add more and more voltages until you get it stable

Pll, I mean set to stock of 1.5 manually

Good luck, and post back if you have any issues or more questions

Re: Pls help with first overclock EP45-UD3R

Thanks LS, I will lower the Static Thread value to 6 and report back. Also, Do you have any reccomendations for improving memory through put, faster ram etc... Will it benifit to overclock further down the road?
What are your thoughts on the Western Digital Raptor Drives 10k rpm.

Thanks in advance, This is a great forum..

Those changes I suggested above will speed the ram though put up

Ya, Overclocking always has benefits for sure

OK, I only changed the Static TRead Value to 6 and it failed post. I changed it back to 7 and we are good again. Should I change some of the other values? So we now know the limit on the TRead value.

                  Thanks LS

Ya, I would go ahead with the others and leave that at 7 then, 6 wont give you that huge of a difference in scores compared to the voltages it may take to use it
