Is Intel Matrix Storage Manager 8.6 compatible with P965/ICH8R boards?

I'm currently using the 6.2.1.1002 IMSM drivers (the most recent ones available from the Gigabyte web site) on my GA-965P-DQ6. The most recent version of IMSM on the Intel site is 8.6.something. Before I update my drivers (and potentially hose the XP installation on my RAID 0 array), has anyone tried a similar configuration? Intel says the new drivers should be compatible with ICH8R boards, but I'm concerned that there might be some incompatibility with the Option ROM (version 6.0.0.1022). IMSM 6.2 has a few issues with optical drive compatibility and hot-swapping that I'm hoping to solve with an update. Thanks!

I've had problems with the whole 8 Series of the driver with Vista 64 and AHCI (No Raid), so I use a 7 series version.
The 8 series have a known conflict with 3dMarkVantage, causing lockups in the system analysis phase.
