I can say that when running witcher 3 before my max temps were normally high 60s, now I'm seeing high 70s, low 80s.
I also noticed my Vcore voltage spiking from 0.830 all the way to 1.38v. I did some reading and Manually set my Vcore voltage to 1.3v, which it was set at automatically. I recall that 1.3v was also the voltage when running auto with F7. This didn't seem to help much as now I only hit 1.378v (a 0.002v difference), but that reduced initial 80C+ temperatures I was first seeing after reboot.
However, still my idles are 10C higher and temps are really spiky. I have no pre-baseline for my voltage, just my temps as mentioned. I'm starting to suspect its voltage related though with the spikes all the way to 1.378v when ever my i7-6700k attempts to Turboboost from 4.0GHz to 4.2GHz.
Any suggestions on how I may correct this on F20?
EDIT: Okay, I was wrong, just look at my monitor again, I'm seeing spikes up to 1.415v.

Re: GIGABYTE Latest Beta BIOS
As much as I hated the f21 bios at stock for my board I am really starting to like it for overclocking with speed shift enabled. I"m still at the same offset I stated earlier and did nothing but bump turbo for all cores to 4.4ghz and it hasn't even tried to give me issue. I am not using any llc or anything. I know that is not impressive considering under load the voltage still drops to a slightly high 1.34v. What I am finding impressive is it hasn't failed to post once despite also having my ram oc'd to 3100mhz at 14cl. I wish I would have noticed that intel speed shift option before and been as aggressive with the offset as I am now. I am going to have to see if I can get 4.5ghz with out changing voltage now.

I hope that this can be solved with a future update to avoid burning CPUs (many people use auto settings).Last edited by Sandokan71; 01-23-2017, 03:13 PM.

Originally posted by Sandokan71 View PostI have the same issue with F20 on Z170x Gaming 7. First of all, the BIOS it is bugged. At default all 4 cores go up to 4.2Ghz instead of 1 at time. This can't be corrected setting multipliers. The second thing is that both auto and normal vcore are too much high for my 6700k. I solved setting vcore at normal and vdiv at -0,130v with CPU at 4.4Ghz. In this way the CPU vcore change taking in account the load (from 0,072v to 1,296v according to HWinfo64) and in idle my cpu is about 25C (after 1-2hr at 20C ambient temperature). If you set vcore manually the vcore will not change in idle and the cpu will be more hot (about 30C in this case it is normal).
I hope that this can be solved with a future update to avoid burning CPUs (many people use auto settings).
So what exactly did you set vcore to? What setting in BIOS is vdiv, or where is it in BIOS? Is vdiv the same as VID in hardware monitor? You also OC'd to 4.4GHz, was that so the computer would not turbo all 4 cores to 4.2GHz?
Hope this gets fixed in next BIOS version.Last edited by grilledcheez; 01-23-2017, 06:42 PM.

1) Vcore is set to NORMAL
2) Dynamic Vcore (DVID) is set to -0,130v. This value need to be evalueted after a lot stability test (I suggest Realbench). I made about 30 different attempt, starting with -0,65v to find the right value for my configuration. VDIV is a different thing. Ignore this (my fault).
3) Turbo Bost parameters is set x44 (for 1,2,3 and 4 active cores). In F20 on Z170X Gaming 7 turbo boost do not work correctly and all cores go up to the higher multiplier. ie. if you set x44, x42, x42, x42 all cores go up to x44 at the same time (you can test this with a benchmark like the one provided by CPU-Z). This is partially fixed (works only for some multiplier value) on some other Gigabyte mb. I hope that this will be fixed on Z170X Gaming 7, too.
EDIT: Load Line Calibration (LLC) is set to Normal.Last edited by Sandokan71; 01-24-2017, 02:59 AM.

I lowered the offest further to -0.090v and as you can see the cpu still spiked with 1.536v which is insane. I also had hw64 open so was able to look back an hour or two and that voltage is only applied for a very short time but seemed to have happened multiple times. 1.5v+ can not be good for a cpu. I don't know if the short bursts are ok I still imagine over time that could cause issue. I have never seen voltages swing so wildly. My 6700k would have trouble stock at that 1.28v. At least in the old bios it would anyway. My 6700k is definitely not one of the better ones.(Edit: I am back to being extremely concerned about this bios. I don't know if this bios is throwing wrong numbers out or if very short high voltage spikes are nothing to be worried about but twice in the past hour while doing nothing but using chrome I have two spikes of 1.98v. They are very short but still very scary if accurate.)
Last but not least pay make a try setting Load Line Calibration (LLC) to Normal and not High.
