UD5 FC2 reporting same thing here, marvell firmware updated, ran some benchmarks, no difference, so i am guessing its a raid fix, since i was able to actually enter the raid utility and marvell bios, even without raid, last bios would not let me. I have also confirmed i think, that SLOW MODE WORKS!!!!!
Is there any chance that we can get the F6 (final) bios for the X58A-UD5 (rev1) fixed?
I'm trying to setup two SATA3 Western Digital Blacks in RAID0 and no matter, I get the error "SATA3 is in IDE mode. Needs to be in RAID mode. Besides..." when I try to open the Marvell control panel. I can assure you that my settings are properly set.
Futhermore, I just wanted to add that all variations of the F6 bios experience the delayed "Verifying DMI Data......................" if anything but the Hard Drive is set as the First Boot Device.
Ya FC2 is beta, and it should be a final FC when ready.
No problem, I'm always asking for things to get fixed and this one in particular I've been asking for a long time, so I'm glad they finally found the time to correct it.
Still waiting for Gulftown to be corrected though, you will all hear from me once it has been - with a massive Bclk posted
Anyone flashed to UD7 rev1.0 F8c? it says it should update the sata 3 firmware but it didn't update it, sata 3 firmware selection was set at Auto, I had to force it to update the sata 3 but why it didn't do it automatically after flashing the bios?
I don't have any drives connected to marvel sata 3 controller, does it matter?
You can always update the Marvell firmware yourself if you want to, set the firmware setting in the Integrated Peripherals BIOS page to Auto or Force, and then apply F10.
On reboot once you get to the IRQ Screen you will see the firmware being updated at the top of the page, if it's not already the latest that is, which it will not already be unless it updated before and you didn't notice.
Connected drives don't matter, you just have to manually set it to update the firmware, that way it is an option for the user to update or not.
I always use Auto option after rebooting from Loading optimized defaults, then set SATA/RAID settings and this option to Auto, then load windows and it updates.
in my case Auto didn't update the firmware after updating to F8c, it was @ Auto already. Auto settings says it will not do anything if you have same or newer version but I doubt bios F7 had same sata 3 firmware, so I just put it on Force and it updated fine.
Odd on both fronts there, I'll have to look to be sure, but unless they changed it - it should be on "Onchip" by default and change back to that after any changes/updates.
I do know though in the last few BIOSes they were adding forced, and trying to get that to be default so things may be a bit different now not sure. This way everyone gets update that doesn't know anything about it.
So that could be why you notice things differently now, they are just trying to keep everyone's firmware updated so they get the best possible performance.
Yea Force is new settings, only saw it on F8c, maybe Auto is little buggy and sometimes it doesn't update, so they implemented force so everyone can update like you said.
