Re: Gigabyte latest bios
With my X58-UD5, I cannot install windows. That's not the worst problem I have with this board, because I use Linux for everything, the only reason why I'd like to install windows is to play some video games. My worst problem is still the endless cycles of power down/up the system goes into if I reboot from Linux, instead of powering-off. Anyway, at the beginning I could install windows, so I guess it's a problem due to some changes in the "bios/bios settings". I'm currently using bios 4r, which with Linux is at least not worse than previous ones and maybe better(but Linux is known for working around many bios problems, so that doesn't tell much). What could it be the reason why I can't install windows vista ultimate 64 bit? It says that it doesn't see any volume which meets the required characteristics for installation, even though it can clearly see all my partitions and even canceling them and recreating and reformatting them doesn't change anything. I've set everything to AHCI, direct mode. Could that be the problem? Does windows have problems with that, or just with this particular ahci bios? I don't want to lower my system quality just to install that windows crap!
