  • GA-EP45-DS3L and Crucial Ballistix 8500 1GB

I just got GA-EP45-DS3L and was hoping I could reuse my Crucial Ballistix BL12864AA1065.16FD5 (1GB PC-8500 modules).

I've read a forum post that talks about issues with Crucial Ballistix PC-8500 RAM.

I'd hate to "try and error" to a point where I'll damage the board, the RAM or loose patience...

I'm not even sure if they will work at all.

If someone has gotten these RAM modules to work, I would be grateful for confirmation they can work and maybe some settings I could use.

If I knew they could work I might try out a few more settings.

    CPU: E6850
    BIOS: Flashed to V9

    Thanks.

I've bumped this post forward http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/cruc...p35-p45-28228/
and although it's in regard to Ballistix PC6400, I thought it might give you an idea on their potential and newer Gigabyte Boards.
    GA-P35C-DS3R Rev2.0 F11 bios, E8200 (@3.0Ghz), OCZ DDR3 PC3-10666 Reaper 4GB (@1200Mhz), Xonar D1, 8800GTS 512, Corsair HX520 (Single 12volt line, Max 40A), WDC 3200aaks/5000aaks in AHCI mode, Vista 64 Premium.

Yes, those sticks should be fine in P45 board. Although I have not tested them personally I have not seen or heard any issues

The ones I have tested in the above mentioned thread so far are doing great, they are only 6400 and will do 1000+ with ease (And are SPD Programmed for 1000Mhz @ 2.0v as well). I will soon be posting my testing results and some timings for the above mentioned/linked sticks but if you need some help with those I can for sure help you along if you need it (I need you to fill out the template below before I can give you any settings as I need to see what CPU Speed you are running)

Please do use only 2.0-2.1 on your ram though, without a fan 2.2V is VERY hot on those sticks and they will die quickly if you do not.

The board is not what you have to worry about damaging really, more so the ram in this issue. Those are double sided 512MB sticks and ALOT of people do have to RMA them eventually a few times (Which you likely have already read about) as they often die quickly especially if you use the warrantied voltage of 2.2

This is Just a template I use to ask people their settings, pay no attention to the numbers in it, replace with yours
