  • GA ep45-ds3 +kingston Ram issue

    CPU Intel Q9400
    RAM KHX8500AD2/2G
    M/b GA ep45-DS3
Graphic card MSI GTX 260 896Mb

Can you give me a rundown on what settings I should have for good performance? My main issue is the memory shows up as ddr2800 and I can't figure out what to do to get it to show up as 1066. I know the timings should be 7-7-7-20 and it should be set to 2.0volts.

    Thanks in advance
    Nikos

Re: GA ep45-ds3 +kingston Ram issue

As far as i'm aware 800Mhz is the highest official Jedec Frequency for DDR2, hence many Memory Manufacturers enter that in the memory's SPD data, so that the PC may boot etc and the motherboard knows what it is.

However Ram that is rated higher than 800Mhz by the manufacturers, has to often be set manually to that higher value.

So you probably need to take your Memory Multiplier from Auto (2.40 probably) ie 333 x 2.40 = 800Mhz to,

    3.20, ie 333 x 3.20 = 1066Mhz

Thank you for the quick reply but I,ve already tried that and the Pc doesn't boot after that change,I think that more changes are needed but I don't know which.

        Have you looked here:-

        EDIT:

        What bios are you using?

Having a quick look at the Gigabyte page for your board, two releases F6 & F7 (now on F9) specifically addressed memory compatability.

I use the F9 Bios. The problem is that I tried to do what the lonk says -as much as I understand- but the PC doesn't boot

Re: GA ep45-ds3 +kingston Ram issue

You could try another multiplier, although it may not result in your target speed, but it will help you identify where the limitations start.

Have you any multipliers between between 2.40 and 3.20 in the list/options in the bios? - you could try those.

You will no doubt have to fine tune your board to get your memory to run at 1066Mhz.

Re: GA ep45-ds3 +kingston Ram issue

Likely your issue with just changing that memory multiplier is that you first need to set Performance Enhance to Standard, and then set the memory voltage manually.

Please post me your full settings you are using now and I will advise back for you some settings for 1066 speeds >>>>
