I have not overclocked for years (since my trusty celeron 300a). I built a new PC for my wife with no intention of overclocking but then the bug hit me and I have to try.
I have read over the other threads in this forum and attempted to change settings but anything over the stock settings seems to cause instability either in a non-boot POST or BSODs. The most I was able to get into Windows with was at 2.8 GHz but games like Bioshock and Crysis lock up. Currently I have put all BIOS settings back at default.
My components:
I feel that it is probably the memory timings to blame and it seems that having more than 2 DIMMs invites trouble. No problems at all temp wise.
Any suggestions for settings to use? From what I read I should be able to hit 3.2 without much issue and don't really want to push it more than that.
