Re: Tweaking ga-p35-ds4 rev.2.0 / Server 2008 Enterprise 64-bit
WOW 2MB pagefile! That is far to low! I would advise you to set it to at least 1.5-2GB
Not sure exactly what you mean by your Stopping processes comment, but things should close when you close them same as XP
The disk writing write before a BSOD could be DrWatson writing down errors anc error causes. Have you looked thru event viewer to see if you can find any possible causes?
Ya, I can help you for sure with your BIOS memory settings. Please Fill this in with what you have now and I will post back some suggested changes >>>
This is Just a template I use to ask people their settings, pay no attention to the numbers in it, replace with yours

Re: Tweaking ga-p35-ds4 rev.2.0 / Server 2008 Enterprise 64-bit
I would try a clean install, I think after many installs of drivers and various apps you just have a messed up/crippled install now. Save yourself some headache and start over properly now that you have a bit more knowledge of the correct drivers
You should not have anything hidden in the MIT section of your BIOS since you are using the latest BIOS. You do flash properly right? IE: Load and apply optimized defaults after you flash before you go back in and make adjustments? If not, you have to do this. But the hotkey, so you know, is Control + F1 on the MAIN screen of the BIOS.
Please do flash properly though >>>

Re: Tweaking ga-p35-ds4 rev.2.0 / Server 2008 Enterprise 64-bit
Well memory amount unused, and stable memory settings are two different beasts.
Why the question marks on CPU multiplier?
obust Graphics Booster___________ [Auto]
CPU Clock Ratio ____________ 16
CPU Host Clock Control_ [Disabled]
CPU Host Frequency (MHz)__________ [200] (16x 200= 3.200Ghz)
PCI Express Frequency (Mhz)_______ [100]
C.I.A. 2__________________________ [Disabled]
System Memory Multiplier (SPD)____ [4.00] = 800Mhz Ram
DRAM Timing Selectable_____ SPD __ [manual]
Performance Enhance = [Turbo]
CAS Latency Time________________ 4/5
Dram RAS# to CAS# Delay_________ 4/5
Dram RAS# Precharge Delay_______ 3/5
Precharge Delay (tRAS)__________ 5/12/15
ACT to ACT Delay (tRRD)_________ 2-3
Rank Write to READ Delay________ 3
Write to Precharge Delay________ 4-6
Refresh to ACT Delay____________ 38-42
Read to Precharge Delay_________ 3-6
Static tRead Value______________ 5-6 (7-8)
Static tRead Phase Adjust_______ 0 [Auto] << always leave
System Voltage Control____ [Manual]
DDR2 OverVoltage Control__ [+0.3V] Set to what you see on your ram sticker, 1.8V default 2.1V = +.3. I see 2.0-2.1 for your rams specs, so set 2.1 if you want to use the tighter timings above, 2.0 for the looser ones. I do see users saying will work at 1.8 though, but best to try to lower later
PCI-E OverVoltage Control_ [Normal]
FSB OverVoltage Control___ [Normal] << maybe +0.1 for stability
(G)MCH OverVoltage Control [+0.1V]
CPU Voltage Control_______ [Normal]
Limit CPUID Max. to 3................: [Disabled]
No-Execute Memory Protect............: [Enabled]
Virtualization Technology............: [Enabled]

So with these settings i got a reboot after a short while when i started to play HL-2. Have been playing a few times during this time but none reboots during the game before. This was first.Last edited by dosign; 10-07-2008, 11:00 AM.

Re: Tweaking ga-p35-ds4 rev.2.0 / Server 2008 Enterprise 64-bit
Ahh, I wondered why you did that. I just put the default in is all.
Temps and voltages all look acceptable, are you using the latest BIOS? I ask because of your ram voltage. Since you only are getting 1.98 with a +3 setting you may want to bump it one more notch and try again with the above settings. Those were alot of ranges, so It is very likely that it would fail with that voltage and you entering the lowest for everything I posted. You were supposed to set all high and then work your way slowly down testing as you go. Sorry I did not say that.
And sorry seems I also forgot to tell you that Performance Enhance needs to be set to standard for sure when setting things yourself
Here, try these for now, this should be a bit more stable >>>>

Re: Tweaking ga-p35-ds4 rev.2.0 / Server 2008 Enterprise 64-bit
K, sounds good. Maybe +.2 or .25 see which is closest to 2.1 for now, but like I said maybe once you get stable you can see if less will also work
Turbo was likely a a huge issue before, and especially would have been with my lowest suggested/tweaked settings. Sorry for not making that clear about the ranges, and missing the performance enhance!
Good luck with the testing!
