I enabled AHCI mode before I installed windows. Now everytime I boot up the computer takes 5-10 seconds to load the AHCI BIOS. Is this natural? Or can I somehow eliminate this.

For sure? I cannot remember.
I do know you cannot do things the other way, like have it set on IDE then switch to AHCI. That requires some more things then just a switch in the BIOS
I think you would be ok and the AHCI Driver would just not be enabled/used. But if you do try, and need any files on your C drive back them up first
