LOL, the poor guy kept trying to talk about the SSD and I kept telling him I didn't care 'cause I bought a new one. Finally we got around to the shutdown issue.

Haha, well at least you got it all sorted out now! Time to test the other suspect SSD in another system on AHCI and see if it needs RMA's or not

Oh, it's running in my wife's pc as the boot drive. The Gigabyte P67 has absolutely no problems with it.

Oh yeah. I knew it worked with the P67 mobo, never had any problems with it. It's the Asrock mobo that has the problem with it.
Anyway, it's all worked out for me, but Asrock should probably look into it. Might be a non issue now for most since it's a SATA2 SSD and I would assume most would be buying SATA3 SSD's now.

Sorry for the late reply.

We test Crucial C300 128GB SSD with Z68 Pro3-M and install OS under AHCI mode, we could install OS in SSD normally.
We didn't see the symptom.

If the OS that you would like to install is Windows XP, please load SATA AHCI driver during OS installation.
Download Link: ASRock > Products > Motherboard Series Pro3-M&o=All

Or you can refer to below suggestions for testing.
1. Load BIOS default settings to try again.
2. Plug the SSD to other SATA ports to try.
3. If possible, please kindly change another SSD to check whether the symptom still occur.

Although I appreciate the reply, I have to wonder if you actually read this thread? Like I told the gentleman that called me, nothing I did would let me install the Corsair F60 SATA2 on any port, so I replaced it with a Crucial M4 64GB SATA3.
