make sure its configured like that and for gods sake don't use the drivers asrock provides
Realtek
if its showing up in the windows device manger then there is nothing wrong with it there ...
and don't dick around with flashing the bios its not gonna help its not a firmware/hardware issue its a driver issue
asrock boards are a ***** to recover if you get a bad flash so avoid it when ever possible

in order for me to get sound out of my board
I had todo the following
unplug all audio ports ...
a: disable jack detection ( YOU MUST DO THIS FIRST or you will need to wipe the drivers and reinstall them)
b: enable mute rear output when front device plugged in
c: click on the jacks in the realtek CP and assigne your speakers

the process is the same for 5.1 but you may need to use the play different streams option and keep jack detection disabled

ALWAYS disable jack detection before you plug anything in
it doesnt work worth a **** on some cases
I have had todo this exact process on at least 4 boards its a realtek issue not a asrock one

Hi

returned the board this morning and now have a ud7.....set up and running in less than an hour with no isues so far.

thanks for the help guys but had enough of problems wwith these boards...that was my 3rd board in a month.
