Extreme7gen4 sound problem

Hi

I am at my wits end on this. I am seriuosly regretting ever buying an Asrock motherboard. They look nice but dont work.

I exchanged my extreme4gen3 for this board due to problems with performance speeds on my revo drive

The revo is now working at full speed but now i have a problem with the sound.

The only sound option is digital and in sound manager the back sound connectors are greyed out....in sound options it says that no sound device is detected. I have tried 3 sets of headphones and desktop speakers but nothing works.

Things I have tried so far are
1. installed windows7 8 times since yesterday at 1pm.Tried professional and premium but get same results.
2. installed on a normal sata drive but get same issue.
3. Tried 3 lots of realtec drivers. still same result.
4. reseated all components including cpu...no change
5. tried using onboard graphics and removed graphics cards. no change
6. moved memory sticks to 2 and 4 as opposed to being in 1 and 3. no change
7. Flashed bios to 1.3 no change
8. flashed back to 1.2 no change. now back on stock bios.


no matter what I do I can not get the sound to work.

anyone have any ideas what is causing this...or is the sound on the board broken.....I will have to return this tomorrow unless someone knows what to do.

Did you make sure that onboard audio and/azalia codec if you have it is enabled in the BIOS? When installing realtek drivers install them as admin and make sure all your speakers are plugged into the rear ports centre/bass surround ect before you install the drivers

you could try removing mb battery for 30mins or overnight just to fully clear the cmos,then once back in load optimized defaults in the bios,see if you get sound then,if not try reflashing your current bios but just before you flash untick the "keep dmi pool data" box then flash bios and load optimized defaults and see if you get sound

ok i read that thread and it lookslike your getting sound but its not enabled,i dont use realtek drivers i use the bog standard microsoft ones that win7 installs but see this pic

Uploaded with ImageShack.us in the top right corner advanced settings disable front panel jack detection then it should let you use and map each port as you plug the rear speakers in

and see the speaker bar in default playback devices? if you play asong in windows media player it should dance up and down whether your getting sound or not,then its a matter of setting the right options in realtek settings

oh and untick the rear and front panel sound simultanous in realtek

where abouts is this option "keep dmi pool data"...caant see it when using flash

it should be on the same page as when it asks you to flash a tiny box with a tick in it,did you try looking and disabling front panel jack detection in realtek device advanced settings first?

your getting sound through headphones because the green sound bar is lighting up,but its disabled the speakers now,you can try un installing realtek drivers alltogether and reboot pc then use what windows installs,and check youve plugged in your front panel audio plug into the mb the correct way round as it will affect it aswell

I have tried all those things....have done 8 clean installs of windows since yesterday.....I am going to try flashing the bios again....but I cant see that option in instant flash where you can
untick a box.....should i be using aa different method to flash it

It's in all BIOS flashing,in dos and windows based software,if you can't manage to get it working have you considered a cheap add in sound card like this one?
