  • Xonar D2X vs X-FI Fatal1ty

I am having a hard time to decide whether to keep my Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty (PCI) or opt for an upgrade to the Asus Xonar D2X. 80% is for gaming and 20% will be used as a mix between music and movies. I know that EAX and Directsound is virtually nerfed in Vista so I don't know how much of an advantage X-Fi has anymore. I want the best gaming experience possible but want to justify spending the money on the D2X. The Xonar is lacking front panel input connections, which is not a big deal since my headphones have plenty length to reach the back. I am using Sennheiser HD595's. If you guys had to chose which one would you pick and why?

I absolutely love my Xonar and it will blow the X-FI Fagtality out of the water. If anything, get the Auzentech X-FI Prelude if you want the ultimate sound card with full EAX compatibility. I have owned them both and the Xonar has proven to me to have the best possible sound.

Thanks for the advice. I picked up the Xonar D2X and I must say WOW!!! The sound quality slaughters my old x-fi. Especially on my Sennheiser HD595's. If it had front audio header support, it would be perfect.
