Re: Anyone play Fallout 3?
I have a Xonar too and there are a couple of things to look for. Make sure that DX3D GX is disabled. The game does not like the EAX emulation. Also make sure you dont have any FRAPS program running in the game. It does not like FPS displays.

Re: GA-EX58-Extreme 3x2GB memory not work Triple channel mode
Are you sure you have the memory on the right slots? For triple you use the outside slots, not the blue ones. XP32 only supports 3gb of RAM. So it is a waste to run 6GB. You need XP-64 or Vista 64-bit for full support of the...

Re: Vista Ultimate 64 BSOD
I know you have done install a few times, but did you install SP1 for Vista? SP1 has solved many many problems and is a must before doing anything else. SP1 could take several hours to complete. You can also download the stand alone installer that will cut the...

Re: XMP Profile vs Manual Overclock
I thought so. I tinkered a bit and managed a very stable 3.8GHz that I am very happy with. Ran Everest, Prime95 for 12Hrs and 10 Runs of Intel Burn.

Re: Very high temperatures!
I agree with casecutter. AS5 is a fantastic TIM, but people use way too much of it. I use it myself and the small tube has lasted forever. You only need about the size of 3/4 of a bb. I have known of people who have spread this stuff all over the cpu. It is...

Re: CoolerMaster/CPU Compatiblity
I would just call Coolmaster. It is the easiest solution. Depending if you father was a hard core overclocker, I would never trust stuff my father handed down to me :P

Re: Xonar D2X vs X-FI Fatal1ty
Thanks for the advice. I picked up the Xonar D2X and I must say WOW!!! The sound quality slaughters my old x-fi. Especially on my Sennheiser HD595's. If it had front audio header support, it would be perfect.

XMP Profile vs Manual Overclock
I spoke with a tech at Corsair and he is convinced that running XMP profile is better than a manual overclock since a true 1:1 ratio is obtained.
I am running:
I7 920
Gigabyte GA-EX58 Extreme
Coolmaster V8 CPU Cooler
Corsair Dominator 3 x 2GB 1600 DDR3

Xonar D2X vs X-FI Fatal1ty
I am having a hard time to decide whether to keep my Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty (PCI) or opt for an upgrade to the Asus Xonar D2X. 80% is for gaming and 20% will be used as a mix between music and movies. I know that EAX and Directsound is virtually nerfed in Vista so I don't know how much of an advantage...
