  • Quick n Dirty performance boost...

Running an Athlon XP3000+ with 1GB pc3200 (Corsair XMS), Gigabyte nForce 2 mobo, and Radeon 9800 Pro video.... I mostly play WoW, and wondering which would be the biggest sub-$100 performance boost, a Radeon X1600 Pro video card, or another 512mb stick of Corsiar XMS?? Just lookin for a boost in performance before i make the jump to building a 64-bit system in a few months, and strapped for cash atm.... btw, AGP 8X
    Thx

At the moment, I can get the X1600 Pro for right at $100, or the memory for around $70, trying not to spend more than $100, because I'm planning on starting a new system this summer, so not gonna dump a whole lot of money into this one....

I would save your pennies for the new system instead of upgrading something that will not be used in a few months.

The performance boost is not worth the money.

The X1600Pro would be the biggest boost, most likely, but it is definitely not worth the money. Save up and upgrade.

Well, even when the new system is built (and that's just my goal, the new system build), this one will still be used as a secondary and for running other things while I'm gaming and when friends come over and such....
Besides, have a baby on the way here in about 4 months, so the new system might end up being a pipe dream for a while longer yet, lol.
