    Re: OC'ing my first CPU: i7 2600K

Ah, so if I'm around .95v at idle, I still don't need to worry about random BSoDs?

All to OC forums said stay above the 1.000-1.06 range.
Also in your sig Wazza, I saw your 23/7 voltage @ 1.17? So figured your idle was well above that?

So if that's not necessary, all i need to do is run blend for another 20 hrs and close up shop if all goes well?

      Re: OC'ing my first CPU: i7 2600K

1.17v is what cpu voltage shows in the bios, thats before llc is applied in windows, altogether its around 1.36v under 100% load,it doesnt show the actual voltage inc llc in the bios, thats why its hard to get right

if it random blue screens you either need touch more offset or a touch more qpi/vtt or vtt if its asrock

blue screen error codes are 101 not enough cpu voltage or too much or 124 error code is not enough vtt or too much

it should run perfectly stable below 1v at idle, mine does so yours should, thats what power saving and intel speedstep is for

EDIT, i do remember the asrock boards having issues when idle with bsod, and adjusting cpu voltage above 1v stopped it,but dont know if it applies to onboard gpu or add in graphic card or both, they should have fixed that though with newer bios's by now?

Ok, guess I'll worry about the Vcore idle if I end up having any bsods then.

So looking at other sites, seems my temps are a bit high for 4.6ghz. 67-70C. I will look at my air flow and may look again at my paste job, but what is your current temp? Any parameters i can look at to cool it down even further?

Thanks for all your help Wazza.

thos temps are fine, aslong as its below 72c,i hit 75-80c with this cooler but thats on intel burn test stress software, you can try 10runs on high or very high or maximum if your temps allow,if it passes that and stays below 72-75c then its stable, dont do anymore runs than 10,as its very stressfull on the cpu

            Re: OC'ing my first CPU: i7 2600K

Drat, Prime95 failed after I went to sleep last night with a bsod 124. I hear that after 12 hours there is an FFT at test #60 - 2688k that can be a SB "killer". So I added a notch on VTT from stock and running it again at custom 10 minute intervals at 90% memory.

So seems I have to tweak a few other things before I worry about Vcore @ idle.

Meanwhile saw another thread saying that for lower OCs, like mine, LLC = 75% is really high, and that using a combination of set turbo voltage (vs auto) can help reduce Vdroop. Heard about that before? Never saw anyone so adamant about LLC before, other than being a tool for Vdroop.

            Cheers.

its upto you what level llc you use, just use more offset with lower llc or higher llc and lower offset, aslong as voltages and temps are low then doesnt really matter what level llc you use

                Re: OC'ing my first CPU: i7 2600K

Ugh, just had a BSOD again, but realized I had my Vcc locked at 1.09v. Originally I tried to put my offset a little less, it's now at -0.025, but then I remembered your original post from like days ago.. so I am now at 2 notches above 1.09 (first notch again 124 BSoD).

So running Prime95 Custome Blend @ 10 min intervals / 90% memory, and crossing my fingers!

(My LLC is still the same)

vvccio = vtt, correct? Oh geez, I did it again.. wrote Vcc. It was my Vtt I meant.
I ended up at 1.16v, so still under the 1.25 you mentioned to be the max. Still good?

Ok, so it worked! Your recommendedation helped get me there wazza! If there was a way to +REP ya, I would!

Here's my submission on the OCN, username ped5:
[Official] The Sandy Stable Club **Guides, Voltages, Temps & BIOS Templates** Inc SPREADSHEET

And yes, I kept my Vtt/Vccio below 1.2V like you mentioned. Also it was 1.116, not 1.16v. I swear my memory has a massive rounding error! Way off, so sorry to lead you off the trail.
That link has results + my UEFI/BIOS settings.

                        Cheers wazza300 , I salut you.
