    Re: I7 930 overclock help

first off your max temp is high. what thermal paste did you use? and whats your cooling? You arent going to get higher with a 76c max at 3.8 with a 1.23vcore. no load line, no extra cpu volts, AND advanced halt states on (C!E/C5/C6 and all those) fyi you need to turn those off.

First off Enter bios and chose Load Optimized Defaults. Press F10 save and Exit.
These settings are set with Load Fail Safe.

After Loading Optimized Defaults go back in and retry your settings leaving the above settings set as they are from optimized defaults.

Only need to disable them if you have problems getting stable and/or with reasonable voltages.

Yes please recheck your thermal paste as you may have used not enough or to much or you may not have your cpu cooler installed correctly.

Uncore has a RULE it MUST be 2x memory multi. Your using 8x memory multi set uncore to 16x +1 or +2 is ok or even higher (will require more qpi/vtt voltage)

      Set PCI-e to 100 mhz
      QPI PLL 1.1 - 1.6v
      IOH Core 1.1 - 1.3v

Besides Vcore, QPI/Vtt, Vdimm and ones listted above all others can be set to auto.

        Re: I7 930 overclock help

all im trying to say is that he has insanely high temperatures and it doesn't seam like he has done anything to cause them to go higher. Disabling the halt states or turning on or changing the voltages i listed would take his temperatures further up, an that would be bad, he doesn't have that much head room until he figures out his cooling.

          Re: I7 930 overclock help

@sin0822.. I wasnt doubting you on his temps and/or head room. Just that everyone says you wanna overclock you needed to disable all the C states and power save features. Which is not true. Why disable them if you dont have too. Thats all...

            Re: I7 930 overclock help

yea i never thought about it, i always thought that if i overclocked id want to know how stable it was in real life performance, so id disable them so i could see how it ran 24/7 without lowering it's multi and gaining stability from lower clock at idle. Just keeping it consistent so i could see how it performed, but i guess id turn it off after in theory, but i never get to doing it, might help me with temps.... thanks
