  • RAM question and boosting

    Hi All,

I have 2GBx2 RAM and when I used Speccy it says 668MHz 9-9-9-24 , on the cover box the RAM says 1600. I had my PC for 1 year and I am noticing a drop in performance so I am trying to check each item in PC and see if it is working properly.

I hear that you have to multiply that number (668x2=1336)? If correct how can I make it reach 1600 ? and what is the difference as far as you have tested? is there a noticeable difference ?

    Thank you

    Re: RAM question and boosting

We can provide you better support if you please give us detailed information about your system. If you could please fill in your system spec's in your profile or add them to your sig. With out know exactly what motherboard, ram, CPU and other hardware we can not advise you have to fix your problem if indeed you are having a problem.

Also not sure what this Speccy is but if you could download the latest version of CPU-z and run it 2 times and move the 2 windows side by side and set 1 window to the memory tab and the other one to the SPD tab and take a screen shot of that and post it here.

I updated my profile but I got a threat alert when downloading your program, another hidden program tries to install and connect to the web under a different name, Thanks.

Don't you see an option to directly increase the speed or something in the bios of your mobo?

              Re: RAM question and boosting

I've downloaded cpu-z from their website for many years and never had an anti-virus alert using AVG, Avast, or ZoneAlarm anti-vurus programs.
It looks like Nod32 is generating a false positive alert.
