    Re: memory

IMO, get the EP45-UD3P. It's cheaper and it's the better board. Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards.

PC6400 will get you to 3.8GHz on a E8500 before you start to overclock the RAM, so if you're aiming higher than this for an overclock (should get 4GHz + if its an E0 E8500), get some good quality PC8500 RAM. The money you save on getting the UD3P (or UD3R if you don't need crossfire) means you can splash out a little on the RAM. For brands, try Crucial (Ballistix), GSkill premium, Patriot, TeamExtreem or Corsair (XMS2 or better, not the value stuff).

You will want 2 fans for the case usually, depending on the case you're buying. These will probably be 120mm, one sucking air in at the front, and one out of the back. As for CPU cooling, a good heatsink is essential. I recoment a Thermalright Ultra 120 extreme, Noctua, Coolermaster V8, Scythe Kama Angle, OCZ Vendeta II.
