Re: DSL internet Connection Problems
When you first added this network router, did you do a power down and hard reboot of the modem? If so then you may want to go into the Administrative section of the router and verify that everything is set up correctly and there are no conflicts with your ISP.Old age and treachery will overcome youth and skill

Re: DSL internet Connection Problems
update the firmware on your router - you might be able to use the http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/index.php , otherwise just use the manufacturers one.
I have found in the past with routers that an older firmware can work better than the latest - depends on the firmware/router & isp involved.
I use the dd-wrt firmware on my lynksys routers and its much better than the one lynksys give you.

Re: DSL internet Connection Problems
can you go back a version? did you have this problem before your upgraded?
since your router is supported by dd-wrt I'd go for that - it'll give you a lot more features
Supported Devices,Supported Devices,All Asus WL-500xx series routers,Asus RT-AC56U,Asus RT-AC66U,Asus RT-AC66U B1,Asus RT-AC68U,Asus RT-AC88U,Asus RT-N10U,Asus RT-N12,Asus RT-N66U
installation instructions
Linksys WRT54G/GL/GS/GX,Linksys WRT54G/GL/GS/GX/fr,Linksys WRT54G/GL/GS/GX/zh cn,Linksys WRT54GL,Linksys WRT54GS v1.0,Linksys WRT54GS v1.1,Linksys WRT54GS v2.0,Linksys WRT54GS v3.0,Linksys WRT54GS v4.0,Linksys WRT54GS v5.0 & 5.1 & 6.0,Linksys WRT54GS v7.0 & 7.2
other things you can try
use the ping command to work out if network is failing and where
eg ping 192.168.0.1 -t
ping ipaddressoftarget -t (keeps pinging - cntrl-c to stop)
so you'd want to ping your router & other pc's on network if any and then you could ping a website
ipconfig /all
prints out network settings, do this and post results to give us more info
nslookup www.google.com - will translate webaddresses into ipaddresses - it could be a dns failure
you could also try
netsh winsock reset - this will require a reboot
all of these commands need to be used in the command prompt (start, run, cmd)Last edited by Kheldar; 11-29-2007, 12:50 AM.
