  • Alternative method for file transfer?

I have an 8-Gigabyte file on my laptop and would like to transfer it to my desktop, but I don't have an external hard drive or a DL DVD burner - is there a way that I can transfer the file using a cable or something to just connect the two computers together? I realize that I can transfer the file via our wireless network using a shared folder, but I think that would take a very long time.

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me! :)

get an ethernet crossover cable, set static IP address on the 2 computers and connect them together. I'd turn off the wireless on the computers so you don't get confused. Then copy it across using shared folders. This will get it across faster then via the wireless.

Yeah in the time that you have spent asking us here and waiting for a reply it would have been copied over for sure by now. But for later reference tho.
