This is my first time building a computer.
I'm using the ASRock M3A770DE motherboard http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=M3A770DE
I am using the Sapphire Radeon HD 6870 graphics card.
I have reviewed manuals and connected everything best I could. I believe my graphics card is properly seated in the PCIe slot because I firmly pushed it in, there is a little white tab that slides into an indentation along the edge of the card to lock it in, and it slides in fastened, indicating it is properly seated.
On the ASRock motherboard, there are two horizontal slots - a green slot and an orange slot. I plugged my graphics card into both PCIe slots and didn't get anything.
When I power my computer on, the CPU fan spins and the hard drive also seems to be spinning, so I think my motherboard and power supply are working properly. Something must be wrong with either the graphics card or the connectors between the PSU and the graphics card.
I find the molex 6-pin connectors suspicious, because my PSU came with
(1) 4+2 molex connector
(2) 6-pin connectors
The Sapphire video card has two 6-pin connectors. So I plugged the two blue 6-pin PSU connectors into them.
However, one of the 6-pin PSU connectors is a "branch" of the other one, and has to turn around like a U to plug into the graphics card. I think this is suspicious?
The monitor reads no VGA signal and the little fan on the graphics card doesn't spin, so I don't even think the graphics card is supplied with power!
Please help.
