  • Sound card or no sound card?

Well, i have a intel 865perl and it has 5.1 sound. I also have a audigy mp3+. I was wondering if, is it better to use the sound card or is it better to use on board sound?: peace:

You'll prolly get the same sound from both...with just basic speakers...like 2.1 etc...with the onboard sound you'll get an extra PCI slot. With the Audigy you'll get EAX sound...which kindacool in some games that include that feature.

It all depends on what you want...if you have 5.1...with and optical in on your theater system and optical out on your computer then go with the 5.1 onboard if not ...if you have a 2.1 computer speakers thing say from creative or logitech etc...go with the audigy.

Persoanlly i would go with 5.1 experience that in games you know what i mean.

That all in your preference...go with what you like...why don't you try both and see what YOU perfer.

I was also wondering if I should get a sound card for my new comp.

Although I'm not too big on sound systems (I have a 2.1 Creative). And I have 6 Channel software audio codec ADI S/W 5.1 channel audio on board sound.....so is there much point in geting a sound card? even a cheap one?

I also heard a card can improve performance as it takes some heat off the motherboard.

                Thx in advance~

There really isnt much reason to buy a SC if your onboard suits you fine.
