Re: How do I clean the cooling fan on my asus x53u-xr1?
I take it u have already disassembled the laptop first since I'm assuming the Asus X53U-XR1 is a laptop right? If so, just use a q-tip and alcohol to clean around the fins of the fan. I'd suggest using compressed air to blow out any dust from the heatsink.
The pic below is a laptop I took apart that I had to clean up
Intel Core i7-4770K (De-lidded) | EVGA Z87 FTW (ATX) | My case: Modified Apple Powermac G5

I don't get the BSOD anymore but it's only been a couple hours since I cleaned it.Last edited by urbanman2004; 06-19-2015, 06:28 PM.Intel Core i7-4770K (De-lidded) | EVGA Z87 FTW (ATX) | My case: Modified Apple Powermac G5

Re: How do I clean the cooling fan on my asus x53u-xr1?
there should've been a recovery partition aside from the main system partition installed on ur laptop when u bought it which should allow u to reset ir harddrive to default factory settings. if not then u are basically gonna have to reinstall windows over ur current harddrive. google a copy of windows, I prefer the pro version for 8.1 or ultimate for 7. Besure to back up anything u consider important on an external hard driveIntel Core i7-4770K (De-lidded) | EVGA Z87 FTW (ATX) | My case: Modified Apple Powermac G5
