    I take it u have already disassembled the laptop first since I'm assuming the Asus X53U-XR1 is a laptop right? If so, just use a q-tip and alcohol to clean around the fins of the fan. I'd suggest using compressed air to blow out any dust from the heatsink.
    The pic below is a laptop I took apart that I had to clean up
    Intel Core i7-4770K (De-lidded) | EVGA Z87 FTW (ATX) | My case: Modified Apple Powermac G5
    Silverstone SST-ST1200-G Evolution Strider Gold 1200W | Noctua NH-U12S | ASUS BW-12B1ST
    OCZ Vertex 4 512GB | Western Digital VelociRaptor 500GB | EVGA GeForce GTX 680 SC
    Patriot Dual Bay 2.5" SATA 3.5" drive bay (for SSD) | Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB DDR3 2400MHz

    * i7-980X * EVGA X58 FTW3 132-GT-E768-KR * Cosair Vengeance 16GB (3X4GB) DDR3 1600MHZ
    * EVGA GeForce GTX 480 SuperClocked 2GB * Western Digital 1 TB VelociRaptor WD1000DHTZ (Mac OS X 10.8.5/10.9.5/10.10.3)
    * Western Digital 600 GB VelociRaptor (Windows 8.1.1) * Fractal Design Define R4 Black Pearl
    * LG WH10LS30 10X SATA Blu-ray Burner * EVGA Supernova 1000 G2 * Corsair H100

      I took it apart today and cleaned it and there was a lot of dust in it but it is still VERY slow. I don't get the BSOD anymore but it's only been a couple hours since I cleaned it.

        O ok. The only thing I can think of suggesting is to use an SSD (I'm assuming ur using the default HDD that came with it which = 5400RM) and upgrade RAM to it's max. 2.5 SSD's are more affordable these days such as Crucial MX100 or Samsung 840 EVO. If either of those exceed ur bugget, try Seagate Momentus XT (hybrid) (check Amazon first).

          Thanks, do you know how to just make my P.C. the way it was when I bought it. I think it's called a factory restore. I tried everything I found online, nothing worked.

            there should've been a recovery partition aside from the main system partition installed on ur laptop when u bought it which should allow u to reset ir harddrive to default factory settings. if not then u are basically gonna have to reinstall windows over ur current harddrive. google a copy of windows, I prefer the pro version for 8.1 or ultimate for 7. Besure to back up anything u consider important on an external hard drive

                I'm not too familiar w/ Asus PCs since i dont own one, but try this manual here, pg 87 (A-13). Took me 5 mins to find after searching google
