    Re: Data recovery problem

most of the good companies only charge you for the data that actually gets recovered.

if you pay enough $$$$ you can data back from a HD that has been erased up to 64 times (ie write 1's out then write 0's)

i've used an online recovery service, it recovered the data, put it in an ecrypted file, then you paid per G to restore the files you wanted, this all happened in the comfort of my home.

Yes, these places really work. They use techniques which can include the disassembly of the drive and direct examination of the drive surface. Depending on just what is necessary (it is unlikely that your drive requires anything that extreme, but hard drives that have been through fires often do), it could be several thousand dollars. I most certainly hope more conventional methods of data recovery will prove effective. There are many companies doing data recovery services. Try Salvage Recovery Lab. I contacted them once and I got my problem solved. They got 90% of my data back. I was extremely happy to get my data back. You can call them at 1 203-973-0242. I think you will have to send the drive physically.

You may try EASEUS Data Recovery Wizard.

I have used it to undelete my file, so I think it's very good.

There are tons of applications, but depending on the issue, you probably won't get much out of them. For physical damage, you will indeed need to go to a specialist. They should be able to get well over 90% of the drive recovered, if not 100%. With enough time and money, you can recover everything of a disk that hasn't been physically destroyed, regardless of how many times it has been overwritten.
