i have been trying to play cs: source and battlefield 2 and i keep getting booted cause of a high ping rating and i have tried closing everything but just the game i am playing but no luck I use an hp mce With a Radeon 9550 a creative labs xtremegamer Fata1ly proeries sound card i only have 512 ram and it has a pentium 4

It really depends where the server is located. E.g if ur in the U.S, connecting to europe which is on the otherside of the world, of course ur gona get high pings. Try to join servers which are hosted locally in your country. Depending on distance from ur internet exchange and destination of the gaming server, the pings are proportional.Asrock P55-Extreme

change ISP's to first tier ISP will help (ie one of the major companies)
what else is using your bandwidth, ie bitorrents, peer to peer software will destroy any chance of good pings

ok what else is connected to your internet
have you checked your PC for spyware - they can steal all your bandwidth.
do AT&T have their own servers for those games?
