Future directions of SETI@home

Boy, I read the changes that will be made to SETI, and honestly....I'm not sure which way I'll go. They mentioned chucking the W/U structure, and although it wasn't completely accurate, given widely varying W/U sizes, it sure is fun. Don't they pay attention to the "friendly competition" that goes on? The different sizes of W/Us throws a random element in there that's kinda fun when you first start, but later averages out.
Well, ATM I'm undecided.....someone sway me with reasons for one over the other. My inertia may keep me doing SETI, but I have considered Folding, as my family would be more likely to contribute.:group:

1) I will pay you lots and lots of (monopoly) money
2) I wont hack your comp and steal your porn collection
3)I'll convince Beefy and Jedi to never send you to Canada
4)I wont tell the RIAA you are the sole reason p2p got started and you upload 1 TB of music every week
5)...haven't had enough coffee to think of something else atm...

nah, all I can say is that you could be doing humanity a service by crunching folding (a service that I could personally benifit from) ...not to mention we really need some more people on the team Oh, and I'll buy you a beer if we ever meet ;)

*F@H will also keep a full load on your CPU, but you can also set it up to use whatever % of the CPU you wish ...this makes it easier to run seti at the same time if you feeling like running both

Wow....ya got me on that one....I was actually going to MOVE to Canada last year, and stayed there for two weeks before finally breaking out of the coma-like stupor that was preventing me from having any grasp of the reality of what the hell I was thinking! Of course, that threat is moot as for certain undisclosed reasons....I can't go back to Canada. It was scary though...kinda like my porn collection

Perhaps you could, but once again, my taste in music is so poor, they'd drop the case out of sheer pity, and more than likely deprogramming themselves by listening to Top 40 stations 24/7 while strapped into a straightjacket with toothpicks holding their eyes open to watch nothing but MTV....

Looks like we'll have lots of TweakTown Teams to join as there'll be at least 3 SETI clients to choose from, eventually.

PS: I'll double the quantity of BEER that minibubba offers you, if you stay with SETI, whichever one we go with that is.

The SETI@home client for BOINC should get going first, so I'm sure I'll try that before jumping to the Southern hemisphere client.

I don't know about seti, but folding has clients for all 3 major OS's...Linux, mac, and Windows so if you every switch you can keep crunching

only problem with that is it's hard to compare seti WUs to folding WUs ...unless you compare a folding score to a seti WU count, then that might be a better way to compare
