I've had one case of XMP reverting after changing a BIOS setting with B550i. After enabling fTPM on F13 it did seem to take extra time to POST and sometime later I noticed the memory speed shown in tools in Windows was the stock speed. I had to go to BIOS and switch XMP off and then back on to get back...

Despite what you'll read everywhere Secure Boot isnt actually a requirement for W11. Microsoft say the system needs to be Secure Boot capable which is met by enabling UEFI boot (disable CSM). The checker, the upgrade tool, and W11 itself arent interested in whether secure boot is enabled so if its causing...

For Linux I dont know but for Windows there are some things to look for

    - In event viewer Windows Logs -> System the Power Troubleshooter (event 1) and Kernel Power events sometimes have a clue
    - In advanced power settings (harder to find in W11) disable Wake Timers
    - In...

The actual dates seem to be the 0315 and 0511 numbers which confirm the 10.50 as newer.

For Realtek Audio drivers you always want to get the package from the GB site (or via App Center) but Ive not heard of any issues getting Realtek LAN drivers, Intel BT/Wifi drivers, or AMD chipset drivers...

These are known issues with increased L3 cache latency and the UEFI-CPPC2 (preferred cores mechanism) not working, and some people have measured even worse latency since yesterdays WU.

This month we can expect a Windows Update and new chipset drivers (powerplan update) to address these...

Msinfo and HWinfo both say Secure Boot is off, the BIOS page has System Mode:Setup, Secure Boot:Enabled Not Active, and Secure Boot Mode:Standard.

It isnt an immediate problem as W11 installs and runs without Secure boot - I'm just missing out on the extra benefits
    Lots of websites...

Thanks for replying. I was wondering if it was a bug that the BIOS shows Enabled but is Not Active.
I had experienced something similar when I noticed my DRAM had gone back to stock speed even though I had enabled XMP. I had to disable and re-enable XMP in BIOS to fix that too....

Microsoft recommend Secure Boot as do other users, and a lot of articles say it must be enabled for W11, although MS and their checker just insist on UEFI boot and TPM. I was able to upgrade with the BIOS saying Enabled but Not Active.

There are posts from GB m/b owners trying to enable...

Theyve updated the release note to say "Change default status of AMD PSP fTPM to Enabled for addressing basic Windows 11 requirements".

Its likely they havent disabled CSM by default yet as there are still people on MBR or older GPUs around without UEFI compliant vBIOS. There's...

This was for B550i which I think is ALC1220. I only mentioned it as App Center - although not popular with everyone - seems to be a way to get updates for the Realtek audio driver.

IIRC I think it first needs to be installed from the GB site or on the App Center Liveupdate->Not Installed...

I think the thread title suggests people want factual information related to new GB BIOS releases. MS are perfectly clear about their recommendations on GPT, UEFI boot and secure boot. Suggesting that people are free to leave their working W10 systems alone isnt the same as dismissing your advice or...

MS just recommend GPT format, UEFI boot, and even secure boot, its not fair to say "Microsoft says that Win10 and newer must be installed and operated in UEFI mode to run properly)". If people are happy with leaving CSM on and keeping MBR and dont want W11 then thats their choice - not everyone...

It makes no real difference with W10 whether you disable CSM or not or have formatted (or later converted to) GPT for the boot drive - in fact by the number of posts from people having problems getting ready for W11 many still havent bothered.
But to enable rBAR or to be ready for W11 then you...

  • You need to enable above 4G decoding to get this option - and then also disable CSM for it to work (but make sure your boot drive is GPT format first). While youre in the BIOS the fTPM setting would allow W11 compatibility.

An update on Intel Bluetooth with B550i. Many people had success with F13 - I was unlucky that the BT adapter disappeared from Device Manager a few days after upgrading to F13.

I then did one more step
    - shutdown with ErP enabled
which brought back the BT adapter and since then...
