AMD Radeon HD 6970

Hi guys,

I read your excellent review about my recently acquired graphics card. I did however, to my discomfort i notice from your screen shots of gpu-z that our bus interface is running differently.
I see that your's at PCI-E 2.0 x 16 @ x16 2.0 and mine @ x8 2.0

What does this mean? The reason i care to bother about this is because I actually get pretty heavy fps loss when i for example play BFBC2 and see heavy smoke and explosions... I cant believe this great card (on the paper...) is supposed to behave like that..!

Any answer will be greatly appreciated!

What brand/model of motherboard are you using?
Which PCI-E slot are you using for you 6970?

Hi!

Thanks for answering. I've got the msi 890FXA-GD70 motherboard. I figured however the problem. There are 5 pci-e ports on this board, and I used the 2nd from the top because of little space (mounted some big ass cooling devices). The chart/manual says nothing about differences between these ports (except for the one "regular" pci-slot). I changed it anyways to the upper one and everything sorted out :)

Hehe now I've got the dilemma of using vsync or not because of great fps and obviously a too slow monitor :(

Glad to hear that you fixed your problem.
