  • Best PCI Ecpress 2.0 card

I'm kinda looking at a single GPU video card probably a Radeon HD 3870 or maybe a Geforce 8800GT since both are sale priced right around $200 USD at Newegg. Maybe someone else has a better GPU idea for a midline gaming rig........... Maybe I should struggle by with my Geforce 7800 card for now in a new system and put more towards the CPU, mainboard, and ram but the PCI express 2.0 boards have my attention.

Even though I'm not really interested in putting down $450 on a video card. Are the dual GPU cards worth the X2 plus investment or are they overpriced at this time?

Im in the same spot. I got a 7600gt ko with amd 64x2 4200+. I want to upgrade but money is short for now. Im looking at the Zotac's 8800gt amp. Did a bit of research and its a pretty good card rite around $270 shipped at newegg I think. Compared to other cards at this speed the Zotac is a steal. I can always go SLI later. Looking to build a new machine by April and give this 1 year old rigg to my little bros. I dont think a $200 dollar card will do much then wat you already have now. $70 bucks more and it be good.
Like i said then later go SLI. Then you better have an SLI board. EVGA's 8800gt Akimbo seems to be nice but cost more then Zotac's amp. Havnt found any reviews on it yet either. I know how you feel. Playing oblivion on my 7600 is a pain.

Found out about this card from another thread here. MSI's 8800gt clocked at 660 not bad for $219.

      Heres the link
