funny lines when in games!

i just built a new sli system using 2 msi 6800 gt and half of the time games run fine but the other half of the time i get this wierd lined effect across my whole screen......i tried renstalling the drivers but it didn't do anything...made sure everything was plugged in correctly .....i really have no clue whats causing the lines/ graphic distortions.....the game somtimes works fine when i mess with setting but it only helps for a bit...seems that if i get out of the a game then get back in the problems reappear ......any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like a heat issue or maybe lack of power. Complete system specs would help.
